Frequently asked
questions
General
What is the process?
We start by thoroughly cleaning and preparing the surface, make any necessary repairs, and then apply a new, durable finish. The result is a refreshed, updated look without the mess, expense, and downtime of replacement.
Can I or my pets be home while you resurface?
No. For safety reasons, homeowners and pets cannot be in the home while we are performing the work and for a minimum of five hours after we complete the project to allow for proper ventilation.
Why choose resurfacing over replacing?
Resurfacing gives you the look of new surfaces for a fraction of the cost of replacement. There's no demolition, no major construction, and most projects are completed much faster than a remodel.
How does resurfacing compare to liners?
Unlike liners, resurfacing restores your existing surface instead of covering it up. Liners can trap moisture and may eventually loosen or develop mold issues underneath the liner. Resurfacing provides a seamless, custom finish that looks and feels like new.
Can I customize my colors?
Absolutely. We offer a variety of colors and finishes, so you can choose a look that fits your style and complements your space.
What areas do you service?
We proudly serve the entire Phoenix Metro area and surrounding communities, with both residential and commercial services throughout Arizona.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. AR Resurfacing is fully licensed and insured, giving you peace of mind that your project is in experienced, professional hands.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We provide free, no-obligation estimates so you can understand your options and make an informed decision.
How long have you been in business?
We've been serving Arizona since 2007. For nearly two decades, we've built our reputation on quality workmanship, exceptional service, and standing behind what we do.
Pricing & Scheduling
How much does resurfacing cost?
Every project is a little different. Pricing depends on the type of surface, its condition, and the scope of work. We provide free estimates so you'll know exactly what to expect.
Do you require a deposit?
Deposit requirements vary depending on the size and type of project. We'll review all payment details with you before work begins.
How far out is scheduling?
Scheduling can vary throughout the year, but our team will always provide the earliest available dates and work with you to find a schedule that fits your needs. Most of the time this can be within a week of your call!
Is payment due at the time of service?
Payment terms vary by project and will be discussed with you before scheduling your work. When collecting payment at time of service the payment can be made by credit card (a small service fee applies) or by check.
Care & Maintenance
How should I clean resurfaced surfaces?
Use non-abrasive cleaners and soft cloths or sponges. Also avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach. A little gentle care goes a long way in protecting the finish and making it last for years to come.
What can void my warranty?
Using abrasive cleaners, suction-cupped accessories, neglect, misuse, or physical damage may void your warranty.
Will resurfacing increase my home's value?
Resurfacing is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve the appearance of your home. Updated surfaces can enhance your home's appeal and make a great impression on potential buyers in areas where buyers are very focused on, kitchens and bathrooms.
What is your warranty and what does it cover?
We proudly stand behind our work with a 2-year warranty that covers defects in workmanship and materials under normal use and proper care.
Can't I just resurface it myself and save money?
DIY kits may seem like a good deal, but they often produce temporary results and can lead to costly mistakes. Professional resurfacing uses commercial-grade materials, specialized equipment, and proven techniques designed to last and with a warranty to back it up.
What types of granite and quartz repairs can you do?
We repair chips, cracks, uneven seams, separated slabs, and many other types of stone damage. In many cases, we can restore your countertops to a like-new appearance without replacement. We also do stain removal!
Tubs, Countertops, Cool Deck & Additional FAQs
How long does resurfacing last?
With proper care and maintenance, a professionally resurfaced tub can look great and perform well for many years.
How soon can I use my tub or shower?
Most tubs and showers are ready to use within 24 to 48 hours after resurfacing.
Do I have to use special cleaners?
No special products are needed. We simply recommend non-abrasive cleaners to help protect and extend the life of the finish.
Can I use a suction-cupped bath mat?
No. Suction cups can damage the new finish and may void your warranty.
Can chips and cracks be repaired?
Yes. Most chips and cracks can be repaired before we apply the new finish.
My tub feels soft when I stand in it. Can that be fixed?
In many cases, yes. Depending on the condition of the tub, we can often reinforce and repair soft spots.
Do you clean mold?
We remove surface contamination during preparation. However, if there is mold behind walls or extensive water damage, additional remediation may be required.
What if my tub has rust?
Most rust damage can be treated and repaired before refinishing. Due to the fact that often there is rust that is unseen under the surface we only offer a limited warranty for surfaces where rust is/was present.
What if my tub has holes?
Most holes can be repaired, depending on their size and the condition of the fixture.
What types of tubs can be resurfaced?
We can resurface most porcelain, fiberglass, cultured marble, cast iron, or acrylic tubs and showers.
Can you resurface laminate or Formica countertops?
Yes. We can resurface many laminate and Formica countertops and give them an updated, modern appearance.
Do I have to remove my existing countertops?
No. One of the biggest benefits of resurfacing is that your existing countertops stay right where they are.
Are resurfaced countertops durable?
Yes. With proper care, resurfaced countertops provide a durable, attractive finish that can last for years.
Can you repair cracks in cool decking?
Yes. We can repair many cracks and damaged areas as part of the restoration process.
Do you warranty the cracks on cool decking?
Because concrete naturally expands and contracts, we cannot guarantee that repaired cracks will never return.
Can you change the color of my cool deck?
Absolutely. Updating the color of your cool deck is a great way to give your outdoor space a completely refreshed look.
How long before I can walk on my cool deck?
Most cool deck surfaces can be walked on within 24 hours, depending on weather conditions. We recommend 1 week of drying/curing before reintroducing furniture or heavier items to the area.
Is cabinet resurfacing less expensive than replacing?
Yes. Cabinet resurfacing typically costs significantly less than replacement while giving your kitchen or bathroom a completely updated appearance.
Can the color of my cabinets be changed?
Absolutely. Whether you're looking for a modern white finish, a bold color, or something timeless, we can transform the look of your cabinets.
How long does cabinet resurfacing take?
Most cabinet projects can be completed in just a few days, depending on the size of the project and any repairs that may be needed.
Will I be able to use my kitchen during the process?
Your kitchen will have very limited access while we're working, but cabinet resurfacing is generally much less disruptive than a full cabinet replacement project.
Can I do custom colors on cabinets?
Yes. We offer custom color options so you can create a look that's uniquely yours.
